William Fort

William Fort is one of the names used for Chettuva Fort, a historic ruined fort at Chettuva in Engandiyur Panchayat, Thrissur district, Kerala. Kerala Revenue identifies the monument as Chettuva Kotta, William Fort and Tipu Sultan Fort, and records that the Dutch constructed its foundation in 1714. The fort later came under Tipu Sultan of Mysore and was partly altered. The official Engandiyur village record places the surrounding area in Chavakkad taluk and uses PIN 680616.

Today the attraction is valued for the combination of fort ruins and the Chettuva backwater setting rather than for a fully restored military complex. Remaining walls and earthworks provide a visual link to the period when European and Indian powers competed along Kerala's coast and waterways. Visitors should expect a heritage ruin, take care around uneven or deteriorated structures, and avoid climbing on fragile masonry.
