Madayipara

Madayipara is a remarkable laterite plateau at Madayi in Kannur district, Kerala, combining seasonal biodiversity with a dense concentration of cultural and historic associations. Kerala Tourism describes an expansive plateau where the appearance changes dramatically with the seasons: monsoon pools and fresh vegetation give way to waves of wildflowers, while butterflies, birds and other small wildlife add interest for nature observers. Madayipara is equally important as a heritage landscape. Historic remains and long-established religious sites in and around the plateau include traces associated with the old Madayi fort, the ancient Madayi Mosque, Madayi Kavu and Vadukunda Shiva Temple, giving visitors more than a purely scenic experience.
