Why this place stands out
Agasthyarkoodam is a 1,890-metre protected Western Ghats peak in Thiruvananthapuram, combining biodiversity, pilgrimage traditions and permit-controlled trekking from the Bonacaud forest side.
Agasthyarkoodam Peak rises to about 1,890 metres in the southern Western Ghats of Thiruvananthapuram district and is one of Keralam’s most significant trekking and biodiversity destinations. Keralam Tourism highlights both its ecological richness and cultural association with Sage Agastya. The conventional approach is through the Bonacaud forest region, but this is not an open, year-round hill walk.
Trekking is regulated by the Forest Department, visitor numbers and seasons may be restricted, and permits are required for authorised routes. The landscape is valued for dense forest, high-elevation vegetation and a remarkable diversity of plants, including species connected with traditional medicinal knowledge. Pilgrimage traditions add another layer of significance to the summit.
Travellers should prepare for a demanding forest trek, carry suitable gear and follow all conservation instructions. The PIN field is intentionally blank because no exact postal address for the mountain peak itself was reliably verified.
