Kanthalloor

Kanthalloor, in Devikulam taluk of Idukki district, is one of Keralam’s best-known high-altitude farming villages. Keralam Tourism highlights the area for cool-climate agriculture, including commercially grown apples as well as fruits such as strawberries, plums, peaches and pears. Vegetable cultivation, orchards and small farms spread across the mountain landscape, creating a visitor experience centred on rural life rather than large commercial sightseeing complexes.

Kanthalloor also has links to megalithic heritage and tribal culture, while the surrounding region connects toward Marayoor, Chinnar and the shola-protected landscapes of the eastern Munnar high ranges. Responsible Tourism initiatives have further strengthened the village’s reputation for community-oriented rural experiences. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives, local produce, farm-based experiences where permitted and photography of the cultivated hills.

Farms are working private spaces, so entry should be by invitation or through organised tourism arrangements. Seasonal availability of fruits varies, making the agricultural landscape itself a more reliable attraction than any single crop.
