About Malampuzha Rock Garden
The Rock Garden at Malampuzha is one of Palakkad's most unusual man-made attractions. Conceived by noted sculptor Nek Chand Saini, creator of Chandigarh's celebrated Rock Garden, the site gives discarded materials a second life as art. Broken tiles, bangle pieces, bottles, cans, stones and other scrap are assembled into figures, walls and creative installations.
Keralam Tourism describes it as the second rock garden of its kind in India and the first such attraction in South India; it opened to the public in 1996 and is maintained by the District Tourism Promotion Council, Palakkad. Sculptural references to Keralam's cultural forms add a regional layer to the recycled-art concept. The garden sits within the wider Malampuzha visitor zone, making it easy to combine with the dam, main gardens, Yakshi sculpture and ropeway.
It is especially appealing to families, art lovers and travellers interested in creative reuse.
