Pazhukkamandapam

Pazhukkamandapam is one of the monuments that preserve the landscape of the historic Mamankam festival at Thirunavaya in Malappuram district, Keralam. Malappuram District Administration records that the mandapam, situated near the famous Thirunavaya temple area, served as a viewing place for kings and queens during Mamankam. Keralam government planning records include Pazhukka Mandapam among the protected Mamankam memorials of Malappuram.

Its role contrasts with nearby martial sites such as Changampalli Kalari and Marunnara, helping visitors understand that Mamankam combined ceremony, royal authority, trade and conflict within the same landscape. The attraction is best experienced together with Nilapadu Thara, Manikkinar and other monuments, as well as the Bharathapuzha riverbank and the religious heritage of Thirunavaya. Pazhukkamandapam is therefore valuable less as a large architectural monument than as a surviving reference point in a broader historic cultural landscape.
