Poruvazhy Peruviruthy Malanada Temple

Poruvazhy Peruviruthy Malanada Temple, commonly called Poruvazhy Malanada, is located at Edakkad in Poruvazhy Village of Kunnathur taluk, Kollam district. Kerala Tourism and Kerala Revenue Department material identify the shrine as a highly unusual pilgrimage centre associated with the worship of Duryodhana from the Mahabharata. The sacred concept differs from a conventional Kerala temple because there is no normal idol or enclosed sanctum sanctorum.

The best-known event is the annual Malanada Kettukazcha or Malakkuda festival, when enormous Edupu Kala and Edupu Kuthira ceremonial structures, traditional percussion and processions transform the surrounding fields into a major cultural gathering. The festival is usually held in the Malayalam month of Meenam. Outside festival time, the site offers a quieter chance to understand local belief and community tradition.
