About Priyadarshini Planetarium

Priyadarshini Planetarium is part of the Keralam Science and Technology Museum complex near PMG Junction in Thiruvananthapuram. Opened to the public in 1994, it was developed as a versatile astronomy education facility and has since been upgraded with digital projection technology. The planetarium’s tilted dome and star-field systems can simulate the night sky and present astronomical phenomena in a format that is accessible to students, families and general visitors.

Keralam Tourism describes it as an important place for learning about the sky and the universe, while the science museum complex adds galleries and demonstrations that complement the astronomy experience. Show languages and timings can vary, and special observing or outreach sessions may depend on programme schedules and weather conditions. Visitors should therefore check the latest official timetable before arrival.

Combining the planetarium with the science museum makes a practical half-day educational outing in central Thiruvananthapuram, particularly during hot or rainy weather.
