Rajamala Hills

Rajamala Hills form one of the best-known high-altitude landscapes around Munnar in Idukki district. Keralam Tourism describes Rajamala as being about 15 kilometres from Munnar and highlights the area as a habitat of the Nilgiri tahr, the rare mountain ungulate that has become a symbol of Eravikulam National Park. The scenery is defined by rolling grasslands, green valleys and layered Western Ghats ridges, making the area rewarding for nature observation and landscape photography.

Rajamala is closely linked with the public tourism experience of Eravikulam, so access is influenced by wildlife-management rules, seasonal conditions and Forest Department arrangements. Visitors come mainly for the combination of mountain views and the possibility of observing tahr in their natural grassland habitat rather than for built attractions. As part of the Munnar high-range circuit, Rajamala pairs naturally with Eravikulam National Park, Anamudi viewpoints and nearby tea-estate scenery.
