Vembanad Lake

Vembanad Lake is the great water body at the heart of Kerala's central backwater landscape and an essential part of tourism in Alappuzha district. Official district information describes the lake as extending across a large area and bordering multiple taluks as well as neighbouring districts. In and around Alappuzha, visitors encounter Vembanad through houseboat cruises, ferry routes, lakeside villages and connecting canals.
