Kozhippara Waterfalls

Kozhippara Waterfalls is an established nature attraction in the high ranges of Malappuram district, close to the Kakkadampoyil hill region. The Malappuram District Administration and DTPC Malappuram identify the waterfall as being on the Chokkad stream, surrounded by forest and suited to visitors who enjoy trekking and rugged natural scenery. The nearby Kakkadampoyil landscape is frequently wrapped in mist, and the combination of wooded slopes, flowing water and rocky terrain gives the area a distinctly Western Ghats character.

Keralam Revenue records for Akampadam village also identify Kozhippara Falls as a local tourism attraction and place the surrounding administrative area in Nilambur Taluk. Some older tourism lists mistakenly group the falls with Kozhikode because Kakkadampoyil sits on the district border; this import records the waterfall under Malappuram based on government sources. Water depth, current and rock slipperiness can change rapidly after rain, so swimming or climbing should only be attempted where locally permitted and clearly safe.
