Nithyananda Ashram at Hosdurg, Kanhangad, is a Kasaragod spiritual centre known for its unusual laterite cave network, temple, meditation atmosphere and association with Swami Nithyananda.
Nithyananda Ashram stands at Hosdurg in Kanhangad, close to the historic Hosdurg Fort, and is one of Kasaragod’s important spiritual destinations. The ashram is associated with Swami Nithyananda, whose work in the area included the creation of a remarkable network of caves cut into laterite rock. Current DTPC Kasaragod and ashram information describe 43 holy caves, while older government descriptions sometimes record a different count; the cave complex itself remains the defining feature of the site.
A temple developed above the caves and contains a panchaloha image of Swami Nithyananda in a seated posture. The green surroundings and devotional atmosphere make the ashram suitable for meditation as well as cultural and spiritual interest. Visitors can include it in a Kanhangad heritage circuit with Hosdurg Fort.
Because it is an active religious institution, opening hours, meditation areas and visitor conduct should be respected.
