Anandavalleeswaram Sri Mahadeva Temple

Anandavalleeswaram Sri Mahadeva Temple is one of Kollam city’s important historic places of worship. Kerala Tourism describes the shrine as an ancient temple traditionally associated with Sage Parasurama and counted among the 108 celebrated Shiva temples of Kerala. Lord Shiva and Goddess Anandavally are the principal deities.

A distinctive feature is the sanctum complex where representations of Sree Krishna, Vishnu, Bhoomi Devi and Lakshmi Devi are also installed under one roof. The annual festival, generally held during March or April, extends for ten days and includes flag hoisting, processions, ritual observances and cultural programmes. Its central Kollam location makes the temple easy to combine with other heritage attractions around the city.
