Konni Elephant Training Centre

Konni Elephant Training Centre is one of Pathanamthitta district’s best-known wildlife attractions and an important reminder of Konni’s long relationship with forests and elephants. The centre’s signature structure is the Aanakoodu, a substantial wooden elephant kraal built in 1942 and designed to accommodate several elephants. Today the site functions more as an educational and visitor destination, with an elephant museum, forest-related interpretation and facilities that help explain older elephant-handling traditions as well as modern care.

Visitors may see elephants housed or cared for at the centre depending on current arrangements, while the surrounding Konni landscape adds a strong forest character to the visit. The destination works well as part of a wider Konni itinerary that can include Adavi and nearby ecotourism areas.
