Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple

Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple is a major pilgrimage landmark at Chottanikkara in Ernakulam district, Kerala, on the eastern side of the Kochi urban region. Kerala Tourism traces the shrine to around the 10th century CE and identifies it as one of the state’s prominent pilgrim centres. The presiding deity is revered as Rajarajeswari, with worship traditions that present the Goddess in different forms at different times of the day.

The temple complex includes the Mekkavu and Keezkkavu areas and is closely associated with long-standing devotional practices and beliefs connected with spiritual well-being. One of the most important annual observances is Makam Thozhal, held during the Malayalam month of Kumbham. Visitors come for worship, temple architecture, ritual atmosphere and the cultural experience of an active Kerala temple.
