Ambanad Hills and Tea Estate lies in the eastern highlands of Kollam district, within Punalur taluk and the Aryankavu panchayat region. Kerala Tourism and DTPC Kollam highlight Ambanad as a hill destination surrounded by the Western Ghats and Achankovil forest landscape. The area is especially distinctive because of its tea plantation, described by DTPC as the only tea estate in Kollam district.
Plantation activity here has roots in the British period, and old estate machinery and factory heritage reflect that history. Rolling tea sections, rubber plantations, forested slopes, streams and small waterfalls contribute to the scenery, leading to Ambanad's popular 'Mini Munnar' comparison. Visitors come primarily for the cool highland atmosphere, plantation views and a quieter drive through eastern Kollam.
