Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple

Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple is an important Ayyappa shrine in Kulathupuzha village, Punalur taluk, Kollam district, Keralam. The temple's setting is one of its strongest attractions: dense eastern Kollam forest and the fish-rich Kulathupuzha River create a green, riverine atmosphere around the sacred complex. The deity is worshipped as Bala Sastha, representing Ayyappan in a youthful form, and local tradition links the installation with Lord Parashurama and the Raja of Pandalam.

DTPC Kollam highlights the temple's traditional Keralam architectural layout and the customary feeding of sacred fish with puffed rice or similar offerings; fishing in the protected temple waters is prohibited. The shrine is counted among Keralam's important Sastha temples and draws large numbers of devotees during its annual festival season around Vishu. Visitors should treat the fish, riverbank and worship spaces respectfully and follow temple rules, particularly during busy pilgrimage periods.
