Koodalmanikyam Temple is one of Irinjalakuda’s most important landmarks in Thrissur district, Keralam. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bharatha, brother of Lord Rama, and is widely celebrated for this unusual focus within Hindu worship. It forms part of Keralam’s Nalambalam pilgrimage circuit, in which devotees visit four temples associated with Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and Shathrughna, especially during the Malayalam month of Karkidakam.
Architecturally, Koodalmanikyam is a strong example of the Keralam temple tradition. Keralam Tourism highlights its imposing eastern gateway, circular sanctum with a copper-plated roof, carved wood and stone details, Koothambalam and the green, water-rich setting created by temple ponds.
