Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple

Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple stands in Kodungallur, Thrissur district, Kerala, within a town closely associated with the ancient Muziris heritage region. Also known as Kodungallur Bhagavathy Temple or Kodungallur Devi Temple, the shrine is dedicated to Bhadrakali, locally revered as Sree Kurumba or Kodungallur Amma. Kerala Tourism describes it as one of Kerala’s old and important Bhagavathy temples.

The best-known event here is Kodungallur Bharani, held in the Malayalam month of Meenam, generally during March–April. The festival is famous for its intense ritual atmosphere and the participation of red-clad oracles, or velichappad, whose traditions give the celebration a character unlike conventional temple festivals. The temple also observes Thalapoli and other annual rituals.

Situated in the centre of Kodungallur, the shrine can be combined with Cheraman Juma Masjid, Kottappuram Fort and other sites connected with the Muziris story.
