Sree Chithra Enclave

Sree Chithra Enclave is located within Thiruvananthapuram’s Museum Junction cultural precinct and commemorates Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the last ruling Maharaja of Travancore. The museum was created to preserve and interpret objects connected with the royal family and the broader history of the former state. Among its notable displays are royal personal belongings, swords, coins, stamps, medals and a ceremonial chariot used by the Maharaja and Amma Maharani.

A sequence of mural-style narrative panels adds context by presenting aspects of Travancore’s social and cultural evolution. Compared with the larger Napier Museum, this is a more specialised visit, particularly valuable for travellers interested in Keralam’s royal history and the transition from princely rule to the modern state.
